Care for your artist Prints & Canvasses
Giclee prints are by far the most popular print method to reproduce artist originals. The pigmented inks used for these archival prints are rated to 75 + years and are widely used by galleries, museums, and art collectors.
Handling
Remove packaging with great care, ensuring packing tapes to not come in to contact with the print. Before handling your new print please ensure your hands are clean and dry. Take care to avoid creasing or bending. Do not place printed face down on any surface. Rolled prints should be delivered to the framers as packaged to avoid damage.
Displaying your print
Your print was produced using a Giclee printing method where by Ultra Chrome microscopic ink dots are sprayed onto photographic archival grade paper to create a quality reproduction print that is highly fade resistant. No art work of value should be placed in direct sunlight or close to a heat source however there are limitations within every building, so ensure you give good consideration to the risk’s and hang accordingly. Your picture framer will be able to give advice on archival materials and types of frames available to you.
Environment
It’s recommended that you keep your print in a relatively controlled environment. Repeated exposure to extreme and/or sudden changes in humidity and/or temperature can have an adverse effect on the longevity of your print and framing materials.
Canvas print care
Occasional gentle cleaning may be necessary to maintain the aesthetics of your canvas print. The best cleaning technique is to dust the canvas with a soft, lint-free, dry cloth or feather duster. If your canvas requires deeper cleaning such as a stain left by an insect, use a damp lint-free clean cloth and apply some mild soap to the stain and leave for 15 minutes ensuring it does not dry out, then with warm damp cloth gently rub the affected area until stain lifts. Do not immerse the canvas in water or use cleaning products as these can damage the material. Your canvas has been varnished to ensure durability.
